Your questions

Why must I ensure that I am not in breach of covenants?

Development or improvements carried out in breach of covenant could affect the value of your interest in your property. You may find it difficult to mortgage your property and the covenant breach may affect the saleability of your home or development.

This may mean that you will have to seek retrospective approval of works carried out. While we are usually willing to provide this, there is likely to be a time delay that could impact on your property sale.

It should also be noted that we monitor planning applications in the areas where we own ground rents and rentcharges and reserve the right to enforce the covenants where necessary to protect the value of our portfolio.
